Product Description
Steam Boiler CHP Power Plant with 240 MW Pyroflow CFB Boiler and 88 MVA Steam Turbine
Very good condition combined heat and power plant with an electric capacity of 88 MVA and a thermal capacity of 240 MW. The plant is designed to operate with wood-based biomass, with coal as a backup fuel. This is a complete power plant, still in full operation, and containing all technical functions from fuel feeding to electric power and live steam dispatch. The equipment has been very well maintained and heavily upgraded throughout its entire lifetime and meets today’s strictest quality requirements.
Steam boiler is Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology with commercial type PYROFLOW, manufactured in Finland by Alhström in year 1989. This CFB boiler has a steam flow of 100 kg/second, a steam pressure of 137 bar, and a temperature of 535ºC. The main fuel has been wood-based biomass with a moisture content of 35-55%, but it can also run solely on coal.
The complete steam turbine plant is manufactured by Siemens. It consists of a the extraction back-pressure turbine, operation steam max 74 kg/s at 137 bar, total through put max 100 kg/s with a special district heating section, the condensing turbine, operation steam max 30 kg/s at 3.5 bar, and an 88 MVA / 10.5 kV / 50Hz generator with auxiliaries. The extracted 3.5 bar steam from the back-pressure steam turbine is consumed by a nearby industry and is also used in the production of hot water for district heating. In condensing mode, the 3.5 bar exhaust steam from the back-pressure turbine is directed into the condensing turbine for maximum electricity production, and the low-pressure steam is condensed in a tubular condenser.
This boiler plant has been maintained very well and upgraded heavily during the years. Both steam turbines were factory refurbished to zero-hour condition by Siemens Germany in 2023 and are thus in excellent condition. Alternator was found in perfect condition during the inspection. The power plant operation and control system was completely rebuilt in 2016 and is currently based on the Siemens T-3000 system with Siemens Simatic 7-series PLCs.
