Wet Gas Scrubber BGS 800 m3/h for neutralization of acid gases, year 2009

This scrubber was used in a thin film coating factory where it reduced harmful gas emissions from the manufacturing processes. The scrubber is made by Finnish Beneq in 2009, it comes with a soundproof covering and it has CE certificate. It removes over 95 % of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), monobutyltin trichloride (MBTC) and hydrogen chloride (HCl), 41 % of methyl trifluoroacetate (MTFA) and on average 50 % of methanol. The levels of emission reduction were measured by VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) in 2010.

This scrubber is a wet two-stage one. Acid fumes are forced by blowers to enter the first compartment below its liquid surface through the first washing head. When passing the edge of the washing head into the neutralizing liquid, the fumes are divided into bubbles, which cause a vigorous mixing effect to allow efficient contact and proper residence time for the neutralization reaction (and slurring of solid particles, if they are present). The second stage is identical with the first.
There is an automatic feeding and control for neutralization chemicals and raw water. In optical fibres manufacturing, when feeding in process fumes with over 1000 ppm of chlorine gases, the output has typically a chlorine concentration of < 0.2 ppm. This scrubber is very maintenance-friendly because of the extremely simple and open structure.
